The Terrafertil Group has acquired the assets of superfood brand Essential Living Foods (Los Angeles, Calif.).
Terrafertil was founded in 2005 as an exporter of dried fruit and in 2009 created the Nature’s Heart brand, which it says is the largest natural brand in Latin America and one of the fastest growing superfood brands in the United Kingdom. Terrafertil is also a large global producer of dried Goldenberries, a Physalis species. Essential Living makes superfood-based organic, non-GMO, gluten free and vegan snack mixes, smoothie blends, and supplements and has distribution in Whole Foods Market and Costco among other retailers. Terrafertil operates in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Chile and the United Kingdom; the acquisition of Essential Living marks its entry into the U.S. market. Essential Living Foods was a presenting company at NCN XV in San Francisco in 2014.
